How we look after your information

We collect very little about you. This page explains what we hold, why we hold it, and how to ask us to change or delete it.

Who we are

Sustainable Swanage is a group of volunteers working with Swanage Town Council to help the town become more sustainable. If you have any question about this page, email hello@sustainableswanage.uk.

What we collect, and why

  • Newsletter sign-ups. When you ask to join our mailing list, we use the name and email address you send us. We use them to send you our newsletter and news of events. We only do this with your agreement, and every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Emails and messages. If you write to us, we use what you tell us to reply. If you ask us to put you in touch with a group, we pass on your name and email to that group, and nobody else.

We don't ask for anything we don't need, and we don't sell your details or share them for marketing.

Where your information is kept

Newsletter details are held in Mailchimp, the email service we use. Mailchimp is a US company, so your details may be processed outside the UK. It explains how it protects them in its own privacy policy. Emails sent to us are kept in our email account, which only the volunteers who reply to them can see.

How long we keep it

We keep your newsletter details until you unsubscribe, and then we delete them. We keep emails only for as long as we need them to help you.

Your rights

You can ask us to show you what we hold about you, to correct it, or to delete it. You can also withdraw your agreement at any time, either with the unsubscribe link in any email or by writing to us. We'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your information, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.

This website

We don't use advertising cookies or analytics that track you from page to page. A few things still happen when you visit:

  • Our pages use the Dosis typeface from Google Fonts. Your browser asks Google for it, so Google sees your IP address.
  • The map pages load mapping code from unpkg and map tiles from OpenStreetMap or OpenTopoMap, which also see your IP address.
  • The site is hosted by Netlify, which keeps standard server logs.
  • The search box works inside your browser and sends nothing to us.
  • Links take you to other websites, including Facebook, Instagram and YouTube. They have their own privacy policies.

If this page changes

We'll update the date at the top. For anything else, just ask.
