Why we've kept it close to home

Buying from local farms, boats and makers keeps money in Purbeck, supports farming that looks after the land, and gives you food at its freshest.

How food is grown matters far more to its carbon footprint than how far it travels. A long drive to a farm shop can add more than it saves, so we've listed places in and near town, and ones that deliver.

Help us fill the gaps

Most shops don't say where their food comes from, so this list is a start. If you run a shop, farm or boat, or you know a Purbeck producer sold in town, tell us and we'll add it. It only takes a couple of minutes.

We're volunteers and we don't sell anything. Places are listed because they sell food grown, caught or made in Purbeck, not because they've paid or asked to be included. Last checked: October 2026, using the businesses' own websites, Swanage News, the Food Standards Agency and Companies House. Opening times change, so please check before you make a special trip.
