The Sustainable Transport Group held their first meeting in February 2021 and the group is keen to attract more interested volunteers. With fossil fuel driven transport being one of the key contributors to climate change and local air pollution the aim of the group is to encourage people to leave the car at home and travel around Swanage town using sustainable active travel such as walking, scooters, cycling and using public transport. Our vision is for tourists and locals to leave their cars at their accommodation and have a car free experience in Swanage.
What are the benefits? Well the obvious ones are health and well being, it’s better for the environment, less traffic congestion, no parking hassles and save yourself a bit of money in the process with lower fuel costs and no parking fees. We have provided a few useful local links below:
