As part of our actions aimed at reducing marine plastic and litter on our beaches artist Claire Nuttall was commissioned to paint some messages and bright colours on the drains on shroe road. This is aimed at raising awareness that these gullies are for rain water run off only and lead directly onto the beach.
Any rubbish that goes down here will end up on our beach with the rain. Cigarette butts are the most common item of litter and sadly the volunteers from Swanage Beach Buddies and Town Council staff pick up hundreds of them a day. They are made or plastic and pollute the marine environment. Please keep Swanage beautiful and bin your butt!
